Naya Magaliou (b.1994, Athens) is a visual artist based in Athens, Greece. She received her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Dundee, Scotland, and her Masters Degree in Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art from Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland, whilst a recipient of the NEON Arts and Culture Foundation Scholarship. She has currently been awarded with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS (2022).

As a transdisciplinary practitioner, she moves freely between mediums, and this mobility of form lies at the heart of her practice. She works with print, painting, installation, typography, live performance, digital video, doodling and occasionally baking. She is currently engaging in print and research-based work about creative labour practices, process driven thinking and how these issues inform hers and others’ practices. In addition, she has spent the last year collecting footage and memories about the identity of the female and European body.

She has exhibited her artwork and shared her research in Greece, Austria, Scotland, Finland and Estonia. Some exhibitions she has taken part in have been: Poster Exhibition in 1927 Art Space, Athens Greece | Come Together Right Now in Alibi Gallery, Athens Greece | Mainostauko (Ad Break) in Urban Vantaa, Finland | What Are We Now? in Beta Space, Otaniemi, Finland | Art Athina art fair with Alibi Gallery, Athens, Greece | Images, Tropes and Narratives: Sharing Control at Marek Gallery in Wolkesdorf, Austria | Girls Will Be Beuys at Buskers Bar in Dundee, Scotland. Her first solo show, titled Notes, demonstrated her interest in printmaking, text and installation, and was exhibited in Alibi Gallery, Athens, Greece (2018). Her second solo work, Can You See Work? iii included a medium scale curatorial project involving a film and television program and a number of artist micro-residencies which converted an exhibition space into artist' studios in VENT Space, Tallinn, Estonia, reflecting her interest in process based artistic practices (2022).
